Placement-driver control with a grippy Pro feel
The Innova Pro Thunderbird is a speed-9 fairway driver for carrying drives that finish with a defined fade. Its 9 / 5 / 0 / 2 flight ratings suit players who want to place the disc down the fairway rather than rely on a long turnover or chase maximum distance.
Why choose Pro plastic?
- Enhanced grip: Innova's Driver Pro blend offers more grip than Champion, giving you a different feel for controlled releases.
- Glide-focused material: Innova describes Driver Pro as providing additional glide compared with its other plastic lines.
- More durable than DX: Driver Pro offers a durability step above DX while retaining its own distinct grip and feel.
Where the Thunderbird fits
Innova describes the Thunderbird as combining TeeBird stability with Valkyrie speed, or resembling a seasoned Firebird with less fade. Consider it when you want a stable placement driver with a less aggressive finish than a Firebird, not an easy-turning fairway.
On a tee shot where the next landing position matters, start with a smooth release and leave room for the fading finish. For a right-hand backhand throw, fade moves left as the disc slows; reverse that direction for a left-hand backhand. Both backhand and forehand players can use the mold, but release quality and throwing speed determine the result.
If you want effortless turnovers or hyzer flips, a more understable option may be a better fit. At lower speeds, the Thunderbird may fade earlier than expected. Its 0 turn rating does not guarantee a perfectly straight flight or immunity to wind.
