Carry farther down the fairway, without a hard finishing hook

The Innova Star Gorgon combines a fairway-driver-inspired feel with speed-10 distance potential. Its 10 / 6 / -2 / 1 flight ratings pair generous glide and workable high-speed turn with a gentle finishing fade. It is worth considering when you want a faster disc for carrying lines rather than the strong hook of an overstable distance driver.

Why choose Star?

  • Grip and durability: Star combines a grippy feel with excellent resistance to wear for regular play.
  • Less flexible than GStar: Choose Star if you want a more structured feel rather than GStar's added flexibility.
  • A little more stability than GStar: Innova rates the Star Gorgon at -2 turn, compared with GStar's -3. Star is the option to consider if you want the Gorgon's glide with less turning tendency.

Where it fits in your bag

If you already throw fairway drivers comfortably, the Gorgon offers a step into speed-10 territory without jumping straight to a speed-12 or speed-13 driver. With sufficient throwing speed, it can produce carrying lines with some early turn and a modest finish. A suitable hyzer release can also open up hyzer-flip lines as you learn the disc.

Picture an open fairway where a hard fade would pull your drive away from the landing area. Start with a smooth release and let the Gorgon show you how much turn it produces at your power. For a right-hand backhand throw, turn moves right early and fade moves left as the disc slows; reverse those directions for a left-hand backhand.

A -2 turn rating does not guarantee a turnover or an arrow-straight flight. If your faster drivers consistently fade out early, a slower disc may still suit you better. Throwing speed and release matter more than choosing a higher speed number.
