Workable Valkyrie flight with Driver Pro grip
The Innova Pro Valkyrie is a speed-9 driver for players developing longer turning lines and shaping drives. Its 9 / 4 / -2 / 2 flight ratings combine high-speed turn with a fading finish, while Driver Pro plastic adds a grippy feel and a glide-focused alternative to Champion or Star.
Why choose Pro plastic?
- Enhanced grip compared with Champion: A useful choice if grip is your main reason for changing plastics.
- Durability above DX: Driver Pro offers increased durability over DX and other Pro blends.
- Glide-focused blend: Innova describes Driver Pro as providing additional glide compared with its other plastic lines. The published Valkyrie glide rating remains 4.
Find its role in your bag
The Valkyrie's high-speed turn makes it a candidate for long turnover shots and, for experienced players using the right release, rollers. It can complement a more overstable driver when you want a disc that works into a turning line rather than resisting turn throughout the flight.
On an open practice fairway, start with a smooth release and watch where the turn develops before the fade takes over. Adjust your angle gradually rather than forcing the disc over. The goal is a repeatable line, not a promise of extra distance from the speed number.
Players who already throw slower fairway drivers comfortably may find this a useful next speed to explore. With less throwing speed, expect less turn and an earlier fade; stronger throws may produce more turn. If you need a hard finish in strong headwinds, choose a more overstable option instead.
