Destroyer power with a defined finishing fade
The Innova Destroyer Innovation is a speed-12 distance driver with 12 / 5 / -1 / 3 flight ratings. It combines a touch of high-speed turn with substantial glide and a strong finishing fade, making the Destroyer mold an option for powerful backhand and forehand throws.
Where the Destroyer fits
- Power-focused distance: Best considered by players already comfortable throwing high-speed drivers effectively.
- Room to carry and finish: Useful for open lines that allow a pronounced fade rather than a gentle landing.
- A faster step beyond the Wraith: Innova describes the Destroyer as a faster Wraith with more high- and low-speed stability.
- Headwind potential: The mold can be useful into a headwind, but wind strength, disc weight, and release still affect the result.
Is it right for your throw?
On an open tee, begin with a smooth release and leave room on the finishing side of the fairway. For a right-hand backhand throw, fade moves left as the disc slows; reverse that direction for a left-hand backhand. The -1 turn rating allows some early movement at sufficient speed, not an automatic turnover.
If your slower drivers currently carry farther, they may remain your better distance choice. Speed 12 describes the speed needed for the intended flight, not a guaranteed distance gain. This is not recommended as a beginner's first distance driver.
